The Medical Assistant plays a vital role during patient visits, assisting the dermatologist in the room and fostering a friendly and efficient environment for patients, staff, and dermatologists.

Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:

• Rooming patients and documenting all vital information
• Scribing information for the dermatologist
• Providing post-operative wound care
• Drawing blood and removing sutures
• Cleaning and stocking exam rooms
• Scheduling patient appointments
• Assisting the dermatologist with procedures such as:
• Surgical photographs
• Biopsies – punch, DIF, and shave
• Excisional procedures
• Electrodessication and curettage
• Mohs micrographic surgery
• Phototherapy
• Injections
• KOH preps
• Trichograms
• Tzank preps
• Dermabrasion
• Patch testing
• Blue light therapy

Qualifications:

Education:

Minimum post-high school education in a medical support field such as Certified Medical Assistant, Licensed Practical Nurse, or Registered Nurse. Non-certified Medical Assistants must complete the Forefront Derm Tech certification program within the prescribed period and maintain certification thereafter.

Post-high school education in a medical support field: Certified Medical Assistant or DERM Tech.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• 1-2 years of recent experience in a medical office in a similar capacity preferred
• Current state certifications, licenses, and registrations required for continued employment
• Willingness to travel to other clinic locations as needed
• Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office and Electronic Medical Record systems
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively with staff, clients, and visitors
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work independently or as part of a team

Pay: $18 - $21 per hour
