Job summary

Sonida Senior Living is seeking a Medicaid Policy Specialist to serve as the organization’s subject matter expert on Medicaid Waiver programs across states. You will ensure communities stay compliant with evolving regulations, manage payer relationships, and lead provider enrollment and contracting efforts.

The role can be performed remotely or from the Dallas, TX office, supporting expansion and multi-site operations in a senior living setting.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of Medicaid program administration, payer relations, or provider enrollment.
• Experience with Medicaid Waiver programs in at least one state (IN, TX, FL, MN preferred).
• Familiarity with NPI/LPI enrollment processes.
• Strong organizational and project management skills.
• Experience in multi-site healthcare or senior living settings.
• Ability to interpret and summarize regulatory documents.

Responsibilities

• Monitor Medicaid legislation and policy changes across states.
• Translate regulatory changes into actionable guidance for leadership.
• Maintain knowledge of state room and board rates and PNA amounts.
• Research and document Medicaid Waiver details for new states.
• Manage renewal of Medicaid contracts and establish new MCE/MCO contracts.
• Negotiate reimbursement rates with payers where applicable.
• Maintain contract tracking for expirations and rate changes.
• Verify NPIs and LPIs for communities; apply for new ones when needed.
• Support communities in applying to become approved Medicaid Waiver providers.
• Maintain provider enrollment records across states.
• Assist finance with data for Medicaid cost reports.
• Track estate recovery criteria and timelines; communicate developments.
• Distribute updated Medicaid reimbursement rates to stakeholders.
• Supervise billing staff and oversee Medicaid billing accuracy.
• Onboard and train billing staff on Medicaid processes.
