The main purpose of this full-time position is to facilitate enrollments and reapplications for the Medicaid Insurance Program and Maryland Children's Health Program. This position will also support the Medicaid Insurance Programs by applying, interpreting, and processing program-specific information, policies, regulations and guidelines in a variety of activities. St. Mary's County Health Department is responsible for protecting and promoting the health of all St. Mary's County residents. Within the scope of its resources, the health department delivers a variety of services to our community, based on local health needs and federal, state, and county regulations. As the county's leader in public health, the agency is committed to ensuring that community members have access to personal and environmental health services and information.
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Two years of clerical experience applying policies in a medical care, health insurance or federal or State entitlement program.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute additional general clerical experience on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
2. Candidates may substitute thirty credit hours from an accredited college or university for one year of the required experience.
Knowledge of Medicaid policies: Experience applying Medical Care Program policies, procedures, and regulations within health care or public-benefit delivery systems.
Ability to interpret eligibility data: Experience reviewing and interpreting Medical Assistance eligibility information to clarify or apply program rules, policies, or guidelines.
Effective communication skills: Experience communicating clearly and professionally with coworkers, supervisors, clients, and community partners.
