Job summary

Capstone Community Action, Inc. seeks a Full-Time Limited-Service Benefits Assister to help community members access Medicaid, SNAP, and other public assistance programs.

You will provide outreach, education, screening, and ongoing application support to families in Central Vermont, including travel across the service area. Qualified applicants will have a Vermont Benefit Assister Certification, SNAP training, and 2+ years in human services.

Qualifications

• Benefit Assister Certification through Department of Vermont Health.
• SNAP training.
• A. in community organization, social work, or related human service field, or a comparable combination or relevant work experience.
• 2 years experience in human services/human development with demonstrated competence and sensitivity in working with low-income individuals and families.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Vermont public assistance programs and confidentiality rules regarding participant data and protected health information.
• Valid drivers license, proof of insurance, ability to pass a driving record check, and reliable personal means of transportation required. Frequent travel throughout our service area required.

Responsibilities

• Provide outreach, education, screening, application assistance, and ongoing support to individuals and families seeking access to public assistance programs (Medicaid and SNAP).
• Help community members understand program eligibility requirements, complete applications, gather documentation, and navigate renewals.
• Serve as a trusted resource within the community to promote financial stability and well-being.
