Job summary

Ensemble Health Partners is seeking a Public Benefit Specialist to work on-site at HSHS - St. Anthony's Hospital in Effingham, IL.

You will review uninsured/under-insured patients for Medicaid eligibility, assist with applications, and coordinate required documents to expedite submissions. Ideal candidates have 1-2 years in healthcare, solid knowledge of revenue cycle and insurance processes, and a proactive mindset toward innovative, efficient patient service.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of experience in healthcare industry, interacting with patients regarding hospital financial issues.
• Understanding of Revenue Cycle including admission, billing, payments and denials.
• Comprehensive knowledge of patient insurance process for obtaining authorizations and benefits verification.
• Knowledge of Health Insurance requirements. Knowledge of medical terminology or CPT or procedure codes.
• Patient Access experience with managed care/insurance and Call Center experience highly preferred.
• Must be inquisitive and demonstrate openness to innovation including AI to explore better processes and ways to alleviate friction and improve patient and client experiences.

Responsibilities

• Review uninsured/under-insured patients for program eligibility opportunities and coordinate applications.
• Communicate with patients to obtain required documents for applications.
• Follow submitted applications to determination point and ensure timely posting of bills/adjustments.
• Document all actions and communications in patient accounting systems.
• Maintain knowledge of state/federal program requirements and share with colleagues.
• Build relationships with Medicaid caseworkers and other revenue cycle teams.
