Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services seeks an Eligibility Specialist II (LTCW) for in-office work in Charleston County. You will determine and re-determine Medicaid eligibility, collecting and evaluating documents from applicants to make accurate determinations.

You will use various information sources and standard Microsoft Office tools, communicating clearly with applicants, beneficiaries, and teammates while following policy and privacy requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma plus relevant program experience in customer services, social services, human services, and/or Medicaid processing.
• Bachelor's degree may substitute for the required program experience.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English clearly.
• Overtime and/or weekend work may be required with Deputy approval.

Responsibilities

• Determine/re-determine Medicaid eligibility according to policies and procedures.
• Collect and evaluate documentation from applicants to determine eligibility.
• Maintain professional demeanor and clear communication with beneficiaries and coworkers.
• Follow escalation processes and document decisions clearly in the systems of record.
