Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services is seeking an Eligibility Specialist II (MAGI) to determine and re-determine Medicaid eligibility in an in-office Charleston County setting.

You will collect and evaluate documentation from applicants and third parties to determine individual and family eligibility, and complete all assigned eligibility determinations with accurate documentation and timely processing.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree may substitute.
• Experience with Medicaid processing or public benefits is preferred.
• Strong mathematical and data-entry accuracy essential.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting complex policies and documents.

Responsibilities

• Determine Medicaid eligibility and MAGI determinations according to policies and procedures.
• Collect and evaluate documentation from applicants and third parties to determine eligibility.
• Maintain thorough notes and ensure timely eligibility determinations and updates in the systems.
• Communicate with applicants and beneficiaries professionally, following privacy and security standards.
