Job summary

The State of South Carolina, Department of Health and Human Services, seeks an Eligibility Specialist II (Non-MAGI) to determine Medicaid eligibility in Charleston County. The role collects documentation from applicants and beneficiaries, reviews cases, and makes timely determinations following policy guidelines.

Responsibilities include using agency systems to gather information, document decisions, and ensure accuracy.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma and experience in customer services, social services, human services, and/or Medicaid processing.
• Bachelor's degree may be substituted for the required program experience.
• Familiarity with computers, standard Microsoft Office software, and ability to read/write/speak English clearly.

Responsibilities

• Use agency tools and information to collect and evaluate applicant data for timely eligibility determinations and updates.
• Maintain accurate documentation and notes for hand-off to colleagues and reviewers.
• Communicate professionally with beneficiaries, co-workers, and supervisors; protect privacy per laws and policy.
• Attend mandatory trainings and comply with agency policies, including confidentiality and security requirements.
