Job summary

Ensemble Health Partners in Roanoke, VA is seeking an Enrollment/Eligibility Specialist to interview uninsured or underinsured patients and determine Medicaid eligibility, assisting with applications to enable timely billing and submissions.

You will coordinate with Medicaid caseworkers, maintain up-to-date knowledge of state and federal program requirements, and document actions in patient accounting systems while delivering compassionate service.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of experience in healthcare interacting with patients about hospital finances.
• Knowledge of revenue cycle including insurance and authorizations is a plus.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies, including AI-enabled processes.

Responsibilities

• Review uninsured/under-insured patients for Medicaid eligibility opportunities and initiate the application process.
• Communicate with patients to obtain documents needed for the application.
• Update insurance information and ensure timely billing or adjustments after submission.
• Document all actions and communications in patient accounting systems.
• Maintain knowledge of state and federal program requirements and share with colleagues.
