Job summary

The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) Medicaid and CHIP Services (MCS) division seeks a highly qualified Medicaid Communication Specialist to fill a pivotal role in communication planning and message development for internal and external MCS initiatives.

Working under the Director of Change Management and project leads, the Medicaid Communication Specialist will craft clear, concise, engaging content for providers, clients, health plans, internal staff and other stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Two years of full-time professional experience developing and editing written communications for multiple audiences.
• Experience translating complex Medicaid topics into plain language.
• Strong editing and proofreading skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects with deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Develop, write and edit Medicaid content for articles, PowerPoint presentations, web content, newsletters and trainings.
• Review and refine content for clarity, accuracy and brand compliance; translate technical information for broad audiences.
• Support staff engagement through drafting content for newsletters and the internal website.
• Collaborate with MCS program areas to align objectives, timelines and deliverables.
• Maintain the internal MCS SharePoint and establish content management processes.
• Advise on content planning, messaging and development of audience-focused communications.
• Educate staff on best practices for strategic content through toolkits, templates and trainings.
• Handle other projects as assigned.
