Job summary

Sheldon Meadows Assisted Living in Michigan is seeking a Medication Technician to administer medications safely and accurately under the supervision of a licensed health care professional.

You will maintain the EMAR documentation, manage medication inventory, and support residents with daily living activities while upholding dignity and respect. The role includes full-time 1st/2nd shifts and some part-time opportunities.

Qualifications

• Must read and follow directions in English
• Certification preferred: CNA, CENA, HHA
• Must be 18 years or older
• Must complete the Heritage Property Management Med Tech Certification training and pass the test
• Must pass state background and pre-employment drug screening

Responsibilities

• Timely and accurate administration of medications as ordered by the licensed health care professional
• Accurate documentation of medication administration in the EMAR system
• Maintain medication inventory including controlled substances
• Reorder medications to avoid missed doses
• Maintain a clean and organized medication cart and med room
• Communicate with providers, pharmacy, hospice and families as needed
• Document care and changes in medication orders
• Deliver care based on individual service plans
• Assist with ADLs: bathing, dressing, toileting, hygiene, mobility, dining
• Respond to resident requests and call lights promptly
• Observe and report changes in residents’ condition to supervisor
• Assist residents with meals and life enrichment activities

Pay

• $16.75–$21.75 per hour

Position Purpose

Responsible for safe,accurate, andtimelymedication administration as ordered by a Licensed Health Care Professional. Assure that all aspects of theresident’spersonal care and service plan are implemented while assuring that the resident is treated with dignity and respect,assistingeach resident to be as independent and self-sufficient as possible.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read,writeand carry out directions in English
• Caregiving experience or certification preferred: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Competency Evaluated Nursing Assistant (CENA), Home Health Aide
• Minimum of 18years of age
• Mustsuccessfulcomplete the Heritage Property Management Med Tech Certification training course and pass the Med Tech test.
• Must be able to pass the state mandated criminal background screening andpre-employment drug screening for illegal substances.

Essential Functions

• Timely andaccurateadministration of medications to residents as ordered by the licensed health care professional
• Accurate andtimelydocumentation of medication administration in the EMAR system
• Follows proper protocol for reporting any medication related concerns
• Maintainmedication inventory including controlled substances
• Reorders medicationstimelyto assure residents do not miss doses
• Maintains a clean and organized medication cart and med room.
• Professionally communicate with providers, pharmacy,hospiceand families as needed
• Proper documentation of all communication relating to resident care, including changes in medication orders
• Document care and services as directed
• Delivercare based on individual service plans
• Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs): Bathing, dressing, toileting, hygiene mobility, dining)
• Respond promptly to resident requests and call lights
• Observe and report changes in residents’ condition to supervisor
• Assistresidents with meals and life enrichment activities as needed

Physical and Mental Requirements

• Able tolift upto 50 pounds
• Ability to stand, walk, bend assist residents in all aspects of personal care
• Handle emotional and physical demands of caregiver
