Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Staff Nurse Inpatient for the CDH Med/Surg Intermediate (3C) unit in Winfield, IL. The role supports acutely ill patients with nursing assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation on a 26-bed high-acuity unit.

Responsibilities include care coordination, collaboration with the health team, participation in governance, and documentation of patient progress. BSN preferred with option for ADN holders pursuing BSN within 3 years.

Qualifications

• BSN from an accredited program and current IL RN license.
• ADN acceptable with commitment to obtain BSN within three years of first day of employment in clinical nurse role.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for clinical practice.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with others.
• Experience on a fast-paced, high-acuity medical-surgical unit is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collects and analyzes data, identifies outcomes, and develops an individualized plan for care.
• Directs care and utilizes assistants appropriately.
• Collaborates with patient, family, physicians and staff and documents the plan of care.
• Participates in shared governance, committees, and unit projects.
• Evaluates and documents patient responses to nursing interventions and updates the care plan accordingly.
• Uses evidence to guide practice decisions.
