Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a Health Care Technician to support licensed nursing staff and provide essential care for patients. Under RN supervision, the HCT will assist with personal care, hygiene, and activities of daily living, while coordinating with departments, visitors, and medical staff to ensure smooth unit operations.

Required BLS within 30 days and a HS diploma/GED, with prior CNA or military medical training and nursing clinical exposure preferred.

Qualifications

• BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
• HS Diploma or GED required.
• Relevant medical training or CNA experience preferred.
• Successful completion of Carle's HCT In Training Program and nursing clinical exposure.

Responsibilities

• Assist with unit supplies, stocking, cleaning instruments, and chart prep.
• Collect patient data and ensure accurate documentation.
• Demonstrate competency in vital signs, glucose monitoring, intake/outtake.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living.
• Prepare patients for transport and coordinate with RN.
• Complete HCT Safety Checklist at shift start.
• Communicate with RN about task progress and delegated duties.
• Document basic patient care and monitor safety and ambulation.
• Support high-volume admissions and discharges for medical-surgical patients.
• Promptly respond to patient call lights and maintain a healing environment.
