Job summary

Boston Medical Center Brighton is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Med/Surge Float Pool. The role offers 36 hours weekly with day/night rotation, delivering 24/7 clinical excellence across medical and surgical units.

The position emphasizes communication with care teams, patient education, and maintaining accurate records in a fast-paced environment. A Massachusetts RN license and BLS are required; ACLS may be needed for some units.

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice professional nursing as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
• 1+ years of RN experience preferred.
• Certification in basic life support (BLS).
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required in certain units.
• Nursing degree: Diploma, ASN or BSN (preferred).
• Relevant clinical experience and/or specialty, certification required for certain practice areas.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Physical ability to meet job responsibilities.
• Basic computer proficiency.
• Fluency in another language a plus.

Responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care in the Medical Surgical units, including assessing, diagnosing, planning, intervening, evaluating, and educating patients.
• Communicate with health care team members, patients, and families.
• Coordinate and delegate appropriate patient care activities to inter-professional colleagues.
• Update and manage patient records.
• Enter and interpret computerized data/information.
• Follow guidelines and policies established by BMCHS nursing organization.
• Assist the leadership team as needed in quality improvement projects.
