JOB OVERVIEW
The Medication Care Manager is responsible for providing the highest quality care and services by administering medication and treatments in a safe, organized manner. Responsibilities include medication administration, documentation, and resident care, all in accordance with laws, regulations, and Sunrise policies, to promote quality care and services for residents.
RESPONSIBILITIES & QUALIFICATIONS

Supporting our Mission, Principles of Service, and Core Values is fundamental. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Medication Administration
- Administer medications and treatments safely and organized.
- Document medication administration accurately in the electronic health record.
- Coordinate with the Resident Care Director or Wellness Nurse for medication updates.
- Follow the Six Rights of Medication Pass to ensure safe administration.
- Ensure timely medication passing and proper documentation of any refusals or missed doses.
- Maintain confidentiality of resident information.
- Report concerns or medication issues to the supervisor.
- Restock and maintain medication carts and rooms.
- Assist with medication checks and assessments for 'as needed' medications.
- Count narcotics with a colleague each shift and report discrepancies.
- Follow refill procedures and communicate needs for new prescriptions.
- Promote resident independence, dignity, and safety, adhering to Sunrise Principles of Service.
- Respond empathetically to residents, considering their communication styles and needs.
- Practice good hygiene and safety precautions consistently.
Resident Care Communications
- Report resident or family concerns to the RCD.
- Participate in daily meetings and develop Individualized Service Plans.
Risk Management and Safety
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Practice safety procedures, including PPE and hazard reporting.
- Report accidents, unsafe conditions, and exposures immediately.
- Maintain safe storage of oxygen and other hazardous materials.
Training and Team Contributions
- Work collaboratively with the team and support engagement initiatives.
- Attend meetings and required training sessions.
- Maintain compliance with all training and certification requirements.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

Experience and Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED; certifications as required by law.
- CPR and First Aid certifications.
- Minimum age of 18.
- Experience with seniors preferred.
- Desire to serve seniors.
