Job summary

Steel Dynamics is seeking a Mechanical Testing Lab Technician to perform mechanical tests, prepare samples, verify equipment, and follow health, safety, and environmental requirements.

You will report to lab leads, maintain cleanliness, perform preventative maintenance, and assist with repairs. Strong safety, communication, and mechanical aptitude are essential, with overtime possibly required.

Mechanical Testing Lab Technician

Responsibilities

• Perform all tasks according to Steel Dynamics health, safety, and environmental requirements
• Ensure monitoring and measuring equipment is verified before use
• Collect and prepare samples for testing
• Perform and evaluate mechanical tests according to standard procedures
• Perform preventative maintenance on all testing lab equipment
• Report any issues to the Mechanical Testing Lab Lead Technician or the Testing Lab Supervisor
• Work with others to repair Mechanical Testing Lab equipment
• Maintain a high level of cleanliness inside and outside of the lab

• Willing to work scheduled & unscheduled overtime

• Ability to drive to pick-up samples from different operating units
