Job summary

Steel Dynamics is seeking an Electrical Maintenance Technician in Texas to support the Melt Shop Electrical Maintenance team. The role focuses on safe, reliable operation and optimization of electrical systems, with hands-on installation, troubleshooting, calibration, and equipment upgrades.

You will work with HMIs, PLCs, and Drives, collaborate with engineers, and uphold strict safety standards. Overtime may be required as needed, and experience with overhead cranes is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Install and optimize new equipment and current installations.
• Assist with troubleshooting and repair of current systems.
• Maintain general housekeeping standards.
• Verify monitoring equipment.
• Assist in calibration.
• Support in crane troubleshooting and repairs.
• Collaborate with Level 1 Engineer on HMIs/PLCs/Drives.
• Follow safety protocols including Red Zone, 20-foot Rule, Cardinal Safety Rules, and electrical safety practices.
• Perform electrical and electronic troubleshooting and periodic maintenance on equipment.
• Identify and implement changes to improve productivity or reliability.
• Integrate knowledge of steel-making process with process control systems to enhance safety and efficiency.

Overview

Working with the Melt Shop Electrical Maintenance team to ensure the effective maintenance and optimization of electrical systems, with a primary focus on safety and operational reliability.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the installation and optimization of both new installations and current equipment.
• Assist with Troubleshooting and repair of current systems.
• Maintain general housekeeping standards.
• Verify monitoring equipment.
• Assist in calibration.
• Support in crane troubleshooting and repairs.
