Job summary

Veolia is seeking a Mechanical Technician in Minnesota to join a team assembling reverse osmosis equipment. Responsibilities include laying out, fabricating, and assembling PVC and metal piping spools, installing sensors, and maintaining safety and quality standards.

You will read engineered drawings, work with a production supervisor, and contribute to a collaborative assembly environment. A High School diploma and 1+ year in mechanical trades are required, with PPE provided and first-shift

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1+ year of experience in mechanical trades (auto repair, HVAC, plumbing, etc.).
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and ability to read shop orders and drawings.
  • Able to operate power tools and assemble RO equipment per drawings.
  • Willingness to work first shift with PPE and safety procedures.

  • Assist with other departments as needed.
  • Coordinate activities with other job classifications.
  • Read and understand shop orders and bills of materials.

Job Description

Work as a Mechanical Technician on a team assembling reverse osmosis equipment. Mechanical Technicians lay out, fabricate, and assemble PVC and metal piping spools, install sensors and devices, and ensure EHS and quality standards are met. This position works under the direction of the Mechanical Technician Lead and assigned Production Supervisor.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Follow all EHS rules and produce quality work
  • Assist with other departments as needed
  • Work with and coordinate activities with other job classifications
  • Follow safe work practices and all environmental, health & safety policies and procedures
  • Read and understand shop orders and bills of materials
  • Assemble RO equipment from drawings as a member of a team
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
  • Work as a member of a team and independently
  • Desire to advance to higher-level mechanical technician roles
  • Basic mathematics skills
  • Ability to operate power tools such as drills, grinders, and saws
  • Ability to assemble conduit and electrical panels and equipment per applicable quality and EHS standards
  • Ability to work from engineered electrical drawings and schematics and understand engineering and quality specifications
  • Ability to participate as a key member of an assembly team
Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 1+ years of experience working in mechanical trades such as auto repair, HVAC, plumbing, etc.
Preferred
  • Trade school certificate in a mechanical trade
  • Experience in a factory or industrial setting, preferably assembly operations
Working Conditions
  • Must be able to perform work with appropriate PPE for work (safety-toed shoes, safety glasses, bump cap/hard hat, etc.)
  • Must be able to operate power tools such as drills, grinders, and saws
  • Some unassisted lifting of up to 50 lbs. is required – nearly all heavy parts movement is assisted with cranes/hoists and pallet jacks
  • Majority of the day will be spent standing with some bending and fine motor work appropriate for work in a fabrication shop
  • Some sitting and computer work is required

Hours: First Shift Monday through Friday 5:45am to 2:15pm

Compensation: The hourly rate of $27.00 is tied to the market for similarly benchmarked roles.
