Job summary

Veolia seeks a skilled fabrication technician to assist in assembling components and piping spools for water treatment equipment. You will work with PVC and metal piping, following engineering drawings and safety standards in a manufacturing environment located in Norfolk, VA.

The role requires mechanical aptitude, teamwork, and the ability to interpret technical drawings. PPE is provided; opportunities exist for growth within Veolia's water technology division.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Trade school certificate in mechanical trade is preferred.
  • Experience in mechanical trades such as auto repair, HVAC or plumbing is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret shop orders and drawings is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Follows all EHS rules and produces quality work.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in assembling PVC and fabricated metal piping spools per quality and EHS standards.
  • Interprets engineering drawings and adheres to rigorous engineering and quality specifications.
  • Reads and understands shop orders and bill of materials.
  • Assembles water treatment equipment from drawings as a team member.

Job Description

Job Summary

Responsible for assisting in the fabrication of various components and/or whole parts to support theproduction and manufacturing of specialized water treatment equipment and associated systems. Thisposition requires forklift operation, scissor lifts, drill presses, belt sanders, band saws, bench grindersand ironworkers. Assists in fabricating and manufacturing various components of specialized equipmentused in industrial water treatment applications Proper and safe use of drill presses, belt sanders, bandsaws, bench grinders, ironworkers, and other specialized equipment to fabricate parts and watertreatment systems. Pipe-fit various materials such as PVC, CPVC, fiberglass, and stainless steel. Practicegood safety procedures in order to keep self and others injury free . Follow good housekeeping practicesby keeping fabrication and tool storage area neat and clean as well as timely cleanup of work area aftereach job is completed , Perform confined space entry in small tanks with 14x18” manways. Maintainrecords and reports as required.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Follows all EHS rules and produces quality work.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the assembly of PVC and fabricated metal piping spools in strictaccordance with established quality and Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) standards.
  • Demonstrates the proficiency to interpret complex engineering drawings and adhere to rigorousengineering and quality specifications.
  • Reads and understands shop orders and bill of materials.
  • Assembles water treatment equipment from drawings as a member of a team.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
  • Work as a member of a team and independently.
  • Desire to advance to higher level mechanical technician roles
  • Basic mathematics skills.
Qualifications

Education & Experience

Required:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Preferred (if applicable):
  • Experience working in mechanical trades such as auto repair, HVAC, plumbing, etc.
  • Trade school certificate in mechanical trade.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to perform work with appropriate PPE for work (safety toed shoes, safety glasses,bump cap/hard hat, etc.)
  • Majority of day will be spent standing with some bending and fine motor work appropriate forwork in a fabrication shop.
  • Ability to operate power tools such as drills, grinders, and saws.
  • Some sitting and computer work is required.
  • Some unassisted lifting up to 50 lbs. is required – nearly all heavy parts movement assisted withcranes/hoists and pallet jacks.

Compensation:

  • The compensation range is tied to the market for similarly bench-marked roles. The range is not an absolute, but a guide, and offers will be based on the individual candidate’s knowledge, skills, experience and market conditions, as well as internal peer equity. Depending upon all the preceding considerations for the final selected individual candidate, the offer may be lower or higher than the stated range: $20 - $23
