Job summary

Yale New Haven Health in New Haven, CT is seeking an HVAC mechanic to support installation, service and maintenance of critical facility systems under the Manager of Mechanical Systems. The role requires assisting in repairs of electrical and electromechanical equipment to ensure safe, reliable operations across hospital infrastructure.

You will respond to service calls and emergencies, log activities in CMMS, and work with staff and contractors to maintain uninterrupted operations.

Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or GED; some trade school preferred.
Experience: 3–6 months hands-on HVAC/Refrigeration, plumbing or mechanical preferred.
Licensure: Valid Driver's License with clean record.
Special skills: Basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems; good record-keeping; computer skills.
Physical: ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, work in various areas and weather conditions.

Responsibilities

Assist HVAC or Mechanic Leadsperson in upkeep of mechanical systems equipment.
Conduct equipment rounds and document findings; notify Leadman of contractor movements.
Repair defective equipment when feasible or log for follow-up.
Respond to service calls, alarms, and emergencies per safety standards.
Maintain CMMS logs and coordinate with staff and contractors.
