Job summary

Yale New Haven Health seeks an experienced HVAC technician to inspect, repair, and maintain hospital-grade HVAC and refrigeration systems across facilities. You will work off shifts and weekends, ensuring reliable operation of critical equipment and adherence to energy-saving practices.

The role requires a high school diploma with formal HVAC training; 3–5 years' experience in installation and maintenance of RHAC systems.

Qualifications

• High school diploma plus formal training in refrigeration, heating, and air conditioning.
• 3–5 years' experience with installation, repair and maintenance of refrigeration, HVAC and related systems.
• S-2 or D-2 HVAC license and EPA refrigerant reclaiming certificate preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, repair, maintenance and operation of HVAC equipment, refrigeration equipment and hospital equipment.
• Work independently, including off shifts and weekends, and document work in logs.
• Ensure energysaving practices and adhere to department policies.
• Utilize proper techniques and tools to diagnose and resolve issues efficiently.
• Carry out preventive maintenance rounds and report any defects to lead man.
• Assist with cost-saving evaluations and identify more economical repair options.
• Maintain required uniforms and safety procedures during all shifts.
• Coordinate with contractors when entering machine rooms and during service calls.

Education

HS diploma + HVAC training

EPA refrigerant reclaiming certificate

Tools

S-2 or D-2 Contractor's License

EPA technician certification Type 2 or Universal
