Job summary

Hartford HealthCare is seeking an HVAC/Mechanical Supervisor to lead the day-to-day operation, maintenance, repair and reliability of campus HVAC systems. You will supervise skilled trades, set daily priorities, and ensure safe, compliant performance of critical equipment.

This hands-on leadership role requires strong HVAC technical knowledge, clear communication, documentation, and emergency-response capability on a large healthcare campus in Hartford, CT.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; HVAC apprenticeship or technical program.
• 10+ years HVAC/mechanical experience with 3-5 years in lead or supervisory role.
• Connecticut HVAC license or equivalent; OSHA-30; EPA 608 certification.

Responsibilities

• Staff Supervision & Daily Operations - Direct HVAC/mechanical staff; assign and prioritize daily work; coach staff; reinforce attendance and safety.
• HVAC / Mechanical Technical Oversight - Provide technical direction and troubleshooting for air-handling systems, pumps, heat exchangers and related equipment.
• Work Order & Preventive Maintenance Management - Manage queues, prioritize maintenance, ensure documentation and closeout.
• Regulatory, Safety & Healthcare Compliance - Support Joint Commission and safety requirements; maintain inspection docs.
• Projects, Contractors & Vendor Coordination - Coordinate contractors, shutdowns, and vendor services; support commissioning and turnover.
• Building Automation & Energy Management - Monitor BAS alarms and system performance; coordinate controls changes.
• Emergency Response & Operational Reliability - Respond to system failures and environmental excursions; set priorities.
• Planning, Reporting & Continuous Improvement - Track KPIs and equipment condition; recommend renewals.
