Job summary

The Applied Research Laboratory at Penn State University is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Technologist to support AMME in design, development, and testing of engineering products. The role focuses on CAD modeling, detailed drawings, GD&T, and tolerance analyses to advance projects for Navy and ARL programs.

Hybrid on-site/work-from-home location is State College, PA, with travel to remote locations as needed.

Qualifications

• 3D CAD design and engineering drawing development.
• Reading and interpreting mechanical drawings.
• Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Engineering calculations.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed 3D models using CAD to support design and development activities.
• Create and maintain detailed engineering drawings for components, assemblies, and complex systems.
• Perform tolerance stack-up analyses and apply GD&T principles.
• Collaborate with project leadership to develop conceptual designs for complex systems.
• Develop and document assembly, integration, and test procedures for system development and validation.
• Assemble, integrate, and test hardware to verify performance against requirements.
