Job summary

The Pennsylvania State University’s Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) in University Park, PA, seeks a Mechanical Engineering Technologist to support mechanical design for Navy/DoD projects. You will collaborate with R&D engineers, attend design reviews, and create 2D drawings and 3D models using Siemens NX and Teamcenter PLM.

This on-site role requires familiarity with mechanical systems, CAD layout for fabrication parts, and compliance with ASME Y14.5.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree is required.
• Familiarity with mechanical systems and CAD layout for fabrication parts.

Responsibilities

• Assist research engineering programs needing mechanical design support through collaboration with R&D engineers and engineering support specialists.
• Participate in meetings and design reviews
• Collaborate to address design, material, and component needs; assist in the resolution of issues
• Use standards to create 3D solid models for parts/assemblies
• Create 2D drawings for fabrication parts/assemblies and BOM documents
• Perform documentation control and archival tasks (.stp, .x_t) and database entry
• Utilize PLM software (Teamcenter) to archive and perform configuration management
• Maintain required compliance training
• Build knowledge of design software features (ASME Y14.5)
• Provide work status updates to senior personnel
