Job summary

Uloop Inc. is seeking a capable Supervisor to oversee corrosion mitigation and mechanical repairs on STS cranes at port facilities. You will supervise, coordinate, and execute on-site tasks, ensuring safety, quality, and schedule adherence.

The role requires at least 5 years in mechanical maintenance, preferably STS/port cranes, with welding and structural knowledge. Travel to port terminals and working at height may be involved; bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Technical degree or diploma in Mechanical, Structural or Welding Engineering or related discipline (preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably STS cranes or port cranes.
  • Proven experience in corrosion repair, mitigation, and refurbishment in marine or port environments.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise corrosion mitigation, structural repairs, and component replacement on STS cranes.
  • Coordinate daily on-site activities and ensure safe, on-time execution.
  • Interpret drawings, specs, and inspection reports and monitor progress and budget.
  • Ensure compliance with HSE, permit-to-work, and safety rules on site.
  • Liaise with client, crane manufacturer, and inspectors for coordinated work.
  • Perform site inspections, quality checks, and handover documentation.

Job description

Job Purpose

The Supervisor is responsible for supervising, coordinating, and executing corrosion mitigation works and mechanical repairs on Ship-to-Shore (STS) cranes. The role ensures that all activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and in compliance with technical specifications, industry standards, and project schedules.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise structural repairs on STS cranes, including corrosion mitigation, and component replacement.
  • Coordinate daily work activities of the crew on site.
  • Ensure correct execution of the corrosion removal and welding repairs, and mechanical refurbishment works according to approved procedures.
  • Interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, method statements, and inspection reports.
  • Monitor work progress, manpower, and materials to meet project timelines and budget constraints.
  • Ensure strict compliance with HSE regulations, site safety rules, and permit-to-work systems.
  • Identify mechanical defects, corrosion damage, and wear, and propose corrective actions or repair solutions.
  • Liaise with the client, crane manufacturer and inspectors to ensure coordinated execution.
  • Perform site inspections, quality checks, and acceptance of completed works.
  • Prepare daily and weekly progress reports, technical reports, and punch lists.
  • Support commissioning, testing, and handover activities when required.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Technical degree or diploma in Mechanical, Structural or Welding Engineering or related discipline (preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical maintenance preferably STS cranes or port cranes.
  • Proven experience in corrosion repair, mitigation, and refurbishment projects in marine or port environments.
  • Strong knowledge of welding codes, steel structures and mechanical systems including bearings, wire ropes, gearboxes, brakes, and hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and specifications.
  • Experience working in active port terminals and shutdown projects is an advantage.
