Job summary

SCM Service - Controls - Maintenance seeks a Mechanical Superintendent to lead on-site mechanical construction activities. You will supervise field personnel, coordinate trades, and ensure safety and quality in accordance with project scope.

The role requires strong knowledge of construction methods, ability to read blueprints, adherence to OSHA standards, and effective communication with clients and management.

Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of construction methods and coordination.
  • Ability to read blueprints, models, and specifications.
  • Knowledge of mechanical construction materials and tools.
  • Up-to-date on OSHA and state safety regulations.
  • Licenses and training to perform duties on the jobsite.
  • Knowledge of job costing, manpower projections, and estimating.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise operations on the assigned construction site.
  • Plan, schedule, organize, coordinate, direct, and control field personnel.
  • Support hiring, training, and retention of field staff.
  • Ensure QA/QC of mechanical work per scope and codes.
  • Assist Project Manager with project objectives.
  • Maintain client relationships and safety compliance.
  • Enforce PPE requirements and safety handbook.

Job description

Mechanical Superintendents are to provide on-site technical and administrative management of mechanical construction project activities.

Reports to: Mechanical Division Manager, Project Executive, Project Manager, General Superintendent

Duties & Responsibilities

The Superintendent is to supervise operations on the assigned construction site. The Superintendent is responsible for planning, scheduling, organization, coordination, direction, and control of all assigned field personnel that support profit and growth objectives. The Superintendent is to support hiring, training, and retention of field personnel. The Superintendent is to oversee quality assurance and quality control of prefabricated and installed construction work to ensure that it complies with scope of work and code requirements. The Superintendent is to assist Project Manager with execution and management of project objectives. The Superintendent is to serve as point of contact with client(s) and to uphold positive relationships with stakeholders. The Superintendent is responsible for the general safety of all team members and subcontractors, including their own well-being, by adherence, enforcement, and promotion of workplace safety procedures outlined in the Safety Handbook. The Superintendent is expected to adhere to all company and site-specific Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements. The Superintendent may be assigned other duties as required.

Qualifications

The Superintendent must have advanced knowledge of construction methods, troubleshooting, resource management, administration, and trade coordination. The Superintendent must be able to read, comprehend, interpret, and communicate information obtained from blueprints, models, and specifications. The Superintendent must have knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in mechanical construction. The Superintendent must be current on the latest codes associated with the mechanical trade in addition to the latest OSHA and state safety regulations. The Superintendent must have all applicable licenses and training necessary to perform assigned duties on the jobsite. The Superintendent must have knowledge of job cost reporting, manpower projections, and estimating.

Working Conditions

The Superintendent must be able and willing to work in cold and hot temperature conditions. The Superintendent must be willing and able to travel to assigned jobsite locations. The Superintendent must be able and willing to work atypical schedules necessary to complete assigned construction project(s), including nights and weekends.

Tools Used

Sheet Metal hand tools, double cuts, drills, brakes, shears, skillsaws, concrete saws, band saws, torches, welders, lockforming machines, recovery machines, refrigerant gauges, ladders, scaffolding, lifts, and other machines and equipment used in the HVAC trade.

Protective Equipment

Safety glasses, safety-toe rated shoes, hard hat, verified appropriate gloves for task, hearing protection, safety harness, ground fault protection, and other equipment as required.
