Job summary

John W. Danforth Company is seeking a Senior Project Manager to guide end-to-end execution of high-impact projects in a leading mechanical contracting environment. You will lead Project Managers, oversee project financials, and ensure alignment with business objectives and outcomes.

You will drive cross-functional collaboration, manage resources at scale, and strive for consistent, high-quality project delivery while advancing safety and lean construction practices.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience managing individual projects exceeding $5MM and portfolios greater than $15MM.
  • Bachelor of Science in a related discipline strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with labor unions and improve management relations.
  • High degree of integrity, with enthusiasm to represent the company in professional circles.
  • Strong work ethic and exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across all levels in a results-driven environment.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately execute contracted work in a profitable manner; meeting or exceeding gross margins.
  • Forecast and report detailed project financials and forecasts.
  • Lead and implement a best-in-class safety culture.
  • Manage the Project Management group to maximize profitability through operational excellence.
  • Interface with VDC department and shops for fabrication and lean construction alignment.
  • Oversee procurement to ensure cost savings and timely deliveries of major subcontracts and equipment.
  • Ensure proper staffing capacity within budgeted overhead.
  • Collaborate with Regional and Executive Leadership on staffing vs overhead.

Job Summary

As a Senior Project Manager at John W. Danforth Company, you will have a strategic impact on our community by guiding the end-to-end execution of high-impact projects. You will lead and develop Project Managers, oversee project financials, and ensure alignment between business objectives and project outcomes. Serving as a key leader, you will drive cross-functional collaboration, manage resources at scale, and ensure consistent, high-quality project delivery.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Accurately execute contracted work in a profitable manner; meeting or exceeding anticipated gross margins.
  • Confirm detailed measurement, forecast and reporting of project financials.
  • Lead and implement company safety program creating a “best in class” safety culture.
  • Manage respective Project Management group to maximize profitability through operational excellence.
  • Exceed operational required results for Project Management along with continual improvement procedures.
  • Interface with VDC department and shops to ensure proper implementation of fabrication and lean construction methods to maximize margins, quality, and safety.
  • Oversee project procurement to ensure cost savings and timely deliveries of major subcontracts, major equipment, and long lead items.
  • Ensure proper staffing capacity within budgeted overhead.
  • Work with Regional and Executive Leadership to ensure proper staffing in relation to contractual obligations and budgeted overhead.

  • Bachelor of Science in a related discipline strongly preferred.
