Job summary

Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) seeks a Mechanical Engineer at the Jackson, AL mill to join a team focused on safety, reliability, and project execution.

The role may be titled Mechanical Reliability Engineer or Mechanical Project Engineer, depending on mill needs, and requires a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and 0–4 years’ experience. Proficiency with AutoCAD and MS Office is expected. This is a full‑time position with competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• 0-4 years of experience in mechanical engineering.
• Authorized to work in the U.S. and valid driver's license.
• Experience with AutoCAD, MS Office tools (Excel/PowerPoint/Word) and Project.

Responsibilities

• Work safely and support mill safety, environmental, quality, and reliability expectations across assigned mechanical maintenance areas.
• Provide technical support to maintenance, operations, engineering, and contractors to resolve mechanical equipment and reliability issues.
• Develop, manage, and improve preventive and predictive maintenance programs, equipment tracking, rebuild programs, spare parts planning, and maintenance documentation.
• Support outages through planning, coordination, troubleshooting, training, and contractor management.
• Use root cause failure analysis and maintenance data to reduce downtime and increase reliability.
