Job summary

Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for our Deridder, LA mill. The position may be titled Mechanical Reliability Engineer or Mechanical Project Engineer depending on mill need. Responsibilities include safety, maintenance reliability, and project execution across assigned mechanical areas.

Required bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field and 0–4 years of experience. AutoCAD and MS Office suite proficiency are expected, with a valid U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or mechanical engineering technology or related field.
• 0-4 years of experience in mechanical engineering.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. and have a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Work safely and support mill safety, environmental, quality, and reliability expectations across assigned mechanical maintenance areas.
• Provide technical support to maintenance, operations, engineering, and contractors to resolve mechanical equipment and reliability issues.
• Develop, manage, and improve preventive and predictive maintenance programs, equipment tracking, rebuild programs, spare parts planning, and maintenance documentation.
• Support daily, monthly, and annual outage work through planning, coordination, troubleshooting, training, and contractor management.
• Use root cause failure analysis, equipment history, maintenance data, and cost information to reduce downtime and improve planning.

Skills

Experience in mechanical engineering

Authorized to work in the U.S.
