Job summary

McKinstry is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer III to join the Engineering & Design team in Spokane. The role blends design, calculations, and multidisciplinary coordination to deliver high-performance, energy-efficient buildings throughout their lifecycle.

You will develop familiarity with mechanical systems design, perform calculations, produce drawings, and coordinate with multiple disciplines while adhering to McKinstry's DBOM process.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or relevant field.
  • 3-5 years of HVAC design experience.
  • Professional level proficiency in Revit.
  • CAD/BIM tool experience highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with MATLAB, VBA, Python, InDesign, IES-VE, and/or other software tools welcome.
  • Onsite construction experience highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Documents project correspondence, issues, decisions and directions.
  • Learns and follows McKinstry Engineering standards and procedures.
  • Contributes to tasks on multiple projects and timelines concurrently.
  • Manages own workload to deliver assigned tasks on time and in the budget.
  • Identifies training, coaching, and support needed to complete assigned tasks.
  • Develops familiarity in mechanical systems design, including calculations, airside systems, piping systems, equipment selection and multi‑discipline coordination.
  • Performs engineering calculations, design, and drafting tasks.
  • Produces design drawings and building information models for construction.
  • Pursues an understanding of the technical foundation of design activities and decisions.
