Job summary

McKinstry is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer III to join our Engineering & Design team in Seattle. You will work within the DBOM framework, designing high-performance systems that balance comfort, energy efficiency and lifecycle costs.

You will manage multiple projects, perform design calculations, produce drawings and BIM models, and coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure on-time delivery within budget.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or relevant field.
  • 3-5 years of HVAC design experience.
  • Professional level proficiency in Revit.
  • CAD/BIM tool experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with MATLAB, VBA, Python, InDesign, IES-VE welcomed.

Responsibilities

  • Documents project correspondence, issues, decisions and directions.
  • Learns and follows McKinstry Engineering standards and procedures.
  • Contributes to tasks on multiple projects and timelines concurrently.
  • Manages own workload to deliver assigned tasks on time and in the budget.
  • Identifies training, coaching, and support needed to complete assigned tasks.
  • Develops familiarity in mechanical systems design, including calculations, airside and piping systems.

The Opportunity with McKinstry

We are currently seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer III to join our Engineering & Design team. Project Management
  • Documents project correspondence, issues, decisions and directions.

Design
  • Develops familiarity in mechanical systems design, including calculations, airside systems, piping systems, equipment selection and multi-discipline coordination.
  • Performs engineering calculations, design, and drafting tasks.
  • Produces design drawings and building information models for construction.
  • Pursues an understanding of the technical foundation of design activities and decisions.
What You Need to Succeed at McKinstry
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or relevant field
  • 3-5 years of HVAC design experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or relevant field.
  • Professional level proficiency in Revit.
  • CAD/BIM tool experience highly preferred.
  • Familiary with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with MATLAB, VBA, Python, InDesign, IES-VE, and/or other software tools welcome.
  • Onsite construction experience highly preferred.
  • CAD/BIM tool experience preferred.

The pay range for this position is $39.20 - $62.31 per hour; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This position is considered non-exempt and will be paid hourly. Base pay information is based on market location. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
