Job summary

Formic in Bolingbrook, IL, seeks a Mechanical Project Engineer to own the mechanical design, documentation, and commissioning of electromechanical systems. You will lead mechanical design from concept through release in SolidWorks, manage BOMs, and drive EOAT development and floor integration.

You will collaborate with Project Engineering and Software teams, ensuring manufacturability, reliability, and scalable deployment across Formic's automation fleet, while staying on-site in the greater

Qualifications

• 3+ years in Mechanical Design or Mechatronics for automation/robotics.
• Own mechanical designs from concept through manufacturing release.
• Experience with 3D assemblies, drawings, BOMs, and EOAT.
• Familiarity with robotics integration and floor deployment.

Responsibilities

• Own mechanical design of automation systems from concept through release.
• Design and test EOAT, produce CAD models and drawings.
• Maintain SolidWorks models, release structures, and BOMs.
• Support floor build, integration, and commissioning activities.
• Collaborate with Project Engineering and Software teams.
• Lead mechanical design reviews and DFx considerations.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and drive improvements across fleet.
