Job summary

Formic is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to lead end-to-end mechanical design for electromechanical automation systems deployed across our fleet. Based in the Chicago area, you will own design, documentation, and on-floor integration, driving from concept through release and BOM management.

You will collaborate with software and project engineering teams to ensure uptime, performance, and manufacturability, while developing EOATs, test plans, and training materials for deployment across

Qualifications

3+ years of experience in Mechanical Design or Mechatronics.
Experience designing mechanical systems for industrial automation and robotic applications.
Strong proficiency with SolidWorks and GD&T drawing release.

Responsibilities

Own mechanical design of automation systems from concept through release.
Design, prototype, assemble, and test automated EOAT and end-of-line systems.
Develop and maintain SolidWorks models, assemblies, and BOMs.
Coordinate with cross-functional teams for product delivery and sustainment.
Configure and troubleshoot electromechanical subsystems on the floor during build and commissioning.
Support DFx practices and provide field diagnostics and improvements.
