Job summary

Formic is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to own the mechanical design, documentation, and commissioning of electromechanical systems for the company’s automation portfolio. You will lead design from concept through SolidWorks modeling and BOM management while driving hands-on integration and floor commissioning to ensure systems are production-ready.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of Mechanical Design experience in automation or robotics.
• Experience designing mechanical systems and assemblies for industrial automation.
• Strong proficiency with 3D CAD and SolidWorks.
• Familiarity with robotic arms and EOAT integration is a plus.
• Willingness to work on-site in the Chicago area.

Responsibilities

• Own mechanical design of automation systems from concept to release.
• Design and test EOAT, model structures, and BOMs using SolidWorks.
• Prepare drawings, exploded diagrams, and manufacturing documentation.
• Coordinate floor integration, commissioning, and startup.
• Collaborate with Software and Product teams to ensure cohesive delivery.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and lead improvement efforts.
