Job summary

Tecogen, Inc. in North Billerica, MA seeks a Mechanical Engineer to advance the mechanical aspects of energy-efficient generators and chillers. You will support service territory operations and collaborate with a small engineering team to optimize designs and performance.

Key duties include redesign for manufacturability, data collection, and cross-functional coordination with production and vendors. CAD proficiency required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• 3+ years in mechanical/product engineering, preferably in equipment design.
• Ability to read design drawings and schematics.
• Experience in HVAC, energy systems, or industrial equipment preferred.
• Proficiency in CREO, SolidWorks, or similar 3D modeling software.
• Knowledge of design for manufacturability (DFM) and lean manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Develop and enhance product lines including generators and chillers.
• Analyze and reconfigure designs to improve performance and manufacturability.
• Operate units to collect data as needed.
• Collaborate with production to fix issues and meet QC standards.
• Coordinate with vendors and contract manufacturers.
• Integrate feedback into design revisions and vendor partnerships.
• Ensure designs meet safety, quality, and performance standards.
• Create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings when required.
• Develop documentation like BOMs, specs, and assembly instructions.
• Provide technical support to production and stakeholders.
