Job summary

Jacobs seeks a senior mechanical engineer or construction manager to lead industrial projects across the United States, including data center initiatives, with up to 50% travel. The role emphasizes leadership, design interpretation, and schedule/cost optimization to deliver complex construction scopes.

Ideal candidates have a strong background in mechanical engineering or construction management, with a bachelor’s degree and proficiency in MS Office, Revit, ACC, and Bluebeam.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent construction experience.
• Certified technical training is preferred.
• General understanding of construction-oriented means, methods, codes and standards.
• Experience interpreting mechanical engineering design drawings and specifications for construction.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership in resolving design and constructability concerns in drawings and specifications.
• Identify schedule and cost-saving opportunities based on existing design or modularization potential.
• Identify trade partners for early contractor engagement through design phase.
• Organize cross-discipline evaluation of mechanical scope with sequencing considerations.
• Identify risks for long lead construction activities and synchronize with design and schedule.
• Develop and review construction bid packages with internal project teams.
• Coordinate across stakeholders for full construction work breakdown structure development.
• Assist with reviews of Vendor Data Requirement submittals during design phase.
