Job summary

Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of HII, is seeking a coating technician to apply protective and decorative coatings to parts, assemblies, and finished products using spray guns, brushes, or rollers. You will mix coating materials and ensure coverage in hard-to-reach areas while following quality procedures.

This full-time role requires a high school diploma or equivalent with related experience or an apprenticeship/ associate degree and 3–5 years in coating or finishing.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent with 5 years related experience; certification may be required.
• Apprentice graduate/ Associate's Degree in relevant discipline with 3 years related experience.

Responsibilities

• Coats surfaces of parts, assemblies, and finished products with protective or decorative coatings using spray gun, brush, or roller.
• Selects and mixes coating material; coats areas inaccessible to hand sprayer.
• Monitors and verifies quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.
