Job summary

Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries, is seeking a surface coating professional in Goose Creek, SC. You will coat parts and assemblies with paints or finishes using spray guns, brushes, or rollers, select and mix coatings, and ensure quality through standard processes.

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent with 1–2 years related experience; an associate degree or apprenticeship in a relevant discipline is preferred. Relocation is not offered.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent or apprentice/associate degree in a related discipline.
• 1–2 years related painting experience or equivalent training.
• Certification may be required.

Responsibilities

• Coat surfaces of parts with protective or decorative materials using spray gun, brush, or roller.
• Mix coating materials and select appropriate coatings for accessible areas.
• Monitor and verify quality per statistical process or control procedures.

The Role

Coats surface of parts, assemblies, and finished products with protective or decorative materials such as paint, varnish, enamel, lacquer, dope, or stain using spray gun. Selects and mixes coating material; coats areas inaccessible to hand sprayer using brush or roller. May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.

Must Have

High School diploma or equivalent and 2 years additional education and/or related experience; Apprentice graduate/ Associate's Degree in relevant discipline and 1 year of related experience. May require certification.
