Job summary

Newport News Shipbuilding is seeking a coating technician to apply protective and decorative finishes to parts, assemblies and finished products. You will spray, brush or roller-coat surfaces and mix coating materials, ensuring proper coverage and adherence.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent with related experience; alternative pathways include an apprenticeship or an associate degree. No relocation is offered, and the position is full-time on-site at our facilities.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent with additional related education or experience.
• Apprentice graduate or Associate's Degree in a relevant discipline with 1+ year related experience.

Responsibilities

• Coats surfaces of parts, assemblies and finished products with protective or decorative materials using spray gun.
• Selects and mixes coating material; coats areas inaccessible to hand sprayer with brush or roller.
• May monitor and verify quality per statistical process control or related procedures.
