Job summary

HII Newport News Shipbuilding in Virginia seeks a Coatings Technician to apply protective and decorative coatings to parts and assemblies using spray guns, brushes or rollers.

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent with 3–5 years related experience; an Apprentice graduate with an Associate’s Degree and 3 years related experience may apply. Certification may be required. This is a full-time role with multiple shifts; relocation assistance not provided.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent with 5 years of related experience or an Apprentice graduate with an Associate's Degree and 3 years of related experience.
• May require certification.

Responsibilities

• Coats surfaces of parts, assemblies, and finished products with protective or decorative coatings using spray gun.
• Selects and mixes coating material; coats areas inaccessible to hand sprayer using brush or roller.
• May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process controls or other procedures.
