Position Description

This position is within the Equipment Development Group (EDG), part of the Global Engineering Services organization (GES). EDG’s mission is to provide innovative engineering and equipment solutions supporting Lilly’s research, development, and manufacturing objectives worldwide. We utilize both new and established technologies, collaborating with external suppliers to create world-class solutions for various technical challenges.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop mechanical systems for automated machinery and equipment.
  • Develop and review user requirements, design specs, and validation documents independently.
  • Lead and participate in design and project teams.
  • Provide technical consultation for Lilly Manufacturing and Research Labs globally.
  • Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
  • Contribute to design documentation, including Functional Design Specifications (FDS), Software Hardware Design Specifications (SHDS), User Manuals, and Safety Assessments.
Minimum Qualifications
  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.
  • At least 3 years of experience in machine design.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Inventor or equivalent 3D modeling software.
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Knowledge of continuous motion manufacturing operations.
  • Experience with manufacturing automation and Allen Bradley PLC systems.
  • Familiarity with mechanical components like gear reducers, conveyors, vacuum pumps.
  • Experience in testing and prototyping to mitigate project risks.
  • Knowledge of coatings, finishes, and manufacturing processes such as ultrasonic welding and robotics.
  • Experience with robotic system integration.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, time management, and personal motivation skills.
Additional Information
  • Travel up to 15%, including international.
  • Position is not remote.

Compensation ranges from $64,500 to $167,200 annually, depending on experience and location, plus benefits and potential bonuses.
