Job summary

The State of New Hampshire, Division of Safety, Bureau of Building Safety & Construction - Mechanical Safety, seeks a Mechanical Inspector in Concord. This full-time, on-site role features a 40-hour week with non-exempt status and offers a Trainee Status starting at $30.02/hour.

Primary duties include plan reviews, inspections, and code enforcement across mechanical, fuel gas fitting, and plumbing installations.

Qualifications

• Equivalent combination of 9 years of education and experience after high school in fuel gas, mechanical, or plumbing trades.

Responsibilities

• Performs construction plan review to verify state building and fire code compliance and approves when directed by the Deputy Fire Marshal.
• Assists with inspections of construction projects in state buildings and others as required in RSA 155-A and Saf-C 8100.
• Investigates complaints and obtains evidence of reported/suspected fuel gas fitting and plumbing code violations as directed.
• Promotes effective application of state building and fire codes by documenting violations and writing detailed inspection reports; follow-up with re-inspections as needed.
• Assembles and prepares background information and documentation for inspection reports and licensure discrepancies.
• Assists fire departments and other agencies in investigating fuel gas, mechanical or plumbing incidents and identifies contributing factors.
• Provides guidance and education to stakeholders on gas fitting and plumbing codes and safety standards.
