Job summary

The State of New Hampshire is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic III in Concord. The role performs skilled maintenance, modification, and repair of agency buildings and environmental systems, and communicates with superiors as required.

A trainee option allows entry with 1+ year relevant education/experience. Minimum qualifications include an equivalent mix of education/experience in trades, and a valid driver’s license for statewide travel.

Qualifications

• Equivalent combination of 2 years of education and experience after high school.
• Valid driver’s license with endorsements for vehicle type and statewide travel.
• Travels throughout the state to various sites for work assignments.
• Trainee option: eligible for trainee status within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform skilled work in carpentry, masonry, electrical, plumbing, landscaping, flooring, drywall, siding, and painting to maintain building integrity.
• Maintain and troubleshoot building systems including pipes, valves, fixtures and related items.
• Coordinate with contractors/suppliers for maintenance services, supplies and equipment.
• Prepare plans and sketches with specifications and requisitions for projects.
• Direct on-site teams to ensure work meets specs and is completed timely.
• Ensure safety policies are followed and use safety equipment as required.
• Assist in office/furniture system alterations and layout planning.
• Recruit and interview as part of Administrative Services Unit responsibilities.
• Oversee electrical work and installation activities in walls for final connection by specialists.
• Supervise contractors for building security systems and access controls.
