Job summary

Somerville seeks a qualified plumber and gas inspector to inspect and test plumbing and water heating systems for code conformance. The role involves reviewing plans, issuing permits, and enforcing gas laws, with duties including responding to emergencies and maintaining records.

Candidates must hold MA Master Plumber license or MA plumbing/gas inspector certification (or 5 years MA experience with CE). Strong communication and driving are required, along with MS Office skills.

Qualifications

• Employee must have MA Master Plumber license and inspector certification or substantial MA experience with CE.
• Knowledge of plumbing and gas installations and safety/code requirements.
• Ability to prepare written reports and follow orders; strong public interaction skills.
• Must possess MA Driver’s License and access to a vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and test plumbing and water heating systems for code conformance.
• Inspect gas piping, appliances and leaks; enforce gas fitting laws.
• Issue permits and keep inspection records; respond to complaints and corrections.
• Answer emergency calls with Fire Department; perform other duties as assigned.
