Job summary

M.C. Dean, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Estimator I to support senior estimators on mechanical construction projects in Tysons, VA.

You will perform quantity takeoffs, analyze drawings and specifications, and help develop competitive bids for HVAC, plumbing, piping, and related systems. Ideal candidates bring a bachelor’s or associate degree, strong analytical and Excel skills, and familiarity with estimating software or BIM tools.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, P&IDs and specs.
• Familiarity with mechanical equipment, materials, and installation methods.
• Knowledge of contract documents and estimating fundamentals.
• Ability to develop accurate quantities, pricing, and bid packages.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing detailed cost estimates, bid proposals, and design-build proposals for mechanical construction projects.
• Perform quantity takeoffs from drawings, BIM models, and project documents.
• Support pricing of changes, scope modifications, and additional work requests.
• Review vendor and subcontractor proposals for compliance with project requirements.
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, project management and procurement teams.
