Job summary

M.C. Dean, Inc. is seeking a Lead Mechanical Estimator to lead major mechanical estimates for complex, high-value projects.

You will oversee estimating teams, develop cost proposals, and ensure accuracy and competitiveness while partnering with operations, engineering, procurement and leadership. The role requires advanced knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems, along with strong leadership, communication, and strategic thinking to drive successful bids.

Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, piping, fuel systems, and central utility plant infrastructure.
• Expert ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, BIM models, P&IDs, and contract documents.
• Experience leading estimates for large-scale commercial, industrial, data center, federal, healthcare, or infrastructure projects.
• Understanding of Design-Build, Design-Bid-Build, CMAR, GMP, and IPD methods.
• Strong leadership, negotiation, and executive presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation and review of major mechanical estimates, budgets, GMPs, and design-build proposals.
• Direct estimating teams through pursuit lifecycle from conceptual budgeting to final bid submission.
• Establish estimating strategies, work plans, schedules, and resource assignments for major pursuits.
• Oversee detailed quantity takeoffs and pricing for HVAC, plumbing, piping, and related systems.
• Develop labor productivity models, installation strategies, and execution plans.
• Lead value engineering and cost-forecasting activities to improve bid competitiveness.
• Coordinate subcontractor and vendor solicitation and perform bid leveling and procurement analysis.
• Provide executive cost analyses, risk assessments, and pricing recommendations.
