Job summary

M.C. Dean, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Estimator II in the United States to independently prepare detailed cost estimates for mechanical construction projects.

You will analyze plans and specifications, perform quantity takeoffs for HVAC, plumbing, piping, fuel systems, and controls, and develop labor and material costs. You will collaborate with engineering, operations, and procurement to deliver accurate, competitive estimates.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of mechanical construction systems including HVAC, plumbing, piping, fuel systems, and related equipment.
• Ability to read, interpret, and analyze mechanical drawings, P&IDs, specifications, schedules, and construction documents.
• Experience with estimating software and BIM/model-based takeoffs is preferred.
• Knowledge of labor productivity factors, estimating methodologies, unit pricing, and cost forecasting techniques.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
• Experience reviewing and interpreting contract documents and subcontract agreements.

Responsibilities

• Prepare complete cost estimates, bid proposals, budgets, and design-build proposals for mechanical construction projects.
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs from drawings, specifications, and BIM models for HVAC, plumbing, piping, and related systems.
• Analyze project plans and contract documents to determine scope, materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor requirements.
• Develop labor productivity assumptions, crew compositions, equipment needs, and installation methods.
• Collaborate with project teams to develop accurate estimates and support bid submissions.
