Job summary

Solid Rock Recruiting represents an established commercial mechanical contractor seeking a Mechanical Estimator to support rising bid volume and project demand. This role focuses on reviewing plans and developing cost estimates for HVAC, plumbing and mechanical construction.

The candidate should have 2+ years in estimating within mechanical construction, with knowledge of sheet metal, ductwork or plumbing. AutoBid is a plus; training is offered for the right person.

Qualifications

• Experience in HVAC, sheet metal, ductwork or plumbing.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications and drawings.
• Strong analytical, mathematical and organizational skills.
• AutoBid experience is a plus; training is available.

Responsibilities

Mechanical Estimator - HVAC / Plumbing

Compensation: $80,000-$130,000, depending on experience

Solid Rock Recruiting is representing an established commercial mechanical contractor in its search for a Mechanical Estimator to support increasing bid volume and continued project demand.

Position Overview

The Mechanical Estimator will be responsible for reviewing project plans, developing accurate cost estimates, coordinating pricing, and preparing competitive bids for commercial HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical construction projects.

The ideal candidate has experience in mechanical estimating, sheet metal, ductwork, or plumbing. Experience with AutoBid is beneficial, but training is available for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

• Review construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents to determine project scope.

• Prepare detailed estimates for commercial HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical construction projects.

• Perform material takeoffs and evaluate labor, equipment, and material costs.

• Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to obtain pricing and verify project costs.

• Identify scope gaps, potential risks, and opportunities to improve estimate accuracy.

• Collaborate with project managers and other team members throughout the bidding process.

• Help manage bid volume while maintaining accuracy, quality, and attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Prior estimating experience in commercial mechanical construction preferred.

• Background in HVAC, sheet metal, ductwork, or plumbing.

• Approximately two or more years of relevant experience preferred, with consideration for both developing and senior-level estimators.

• Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and mechanical drawings.

• Strong analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills.

• AutoBid experience is a plus, but training is available.

• Stable employment history and an interest in a long-term opportunity.

Compensation & Benefits

The compensation package is based on experience and qualifications:

• $80,000-$100,000 for less-experienced candidates

• $120,000-$130,000 potential for more senior-level professionals
