Job summary

Nefco Corp. in Canton, MA is seeking an experienced Mechanical Estimator to prepare accurate, detailed cost estimates for mechanical components and systems on construction projects.

The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years of mechanical estimating experience, HVAC familiarity, and strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills; proficiency with MS Office and Bluebeam is a plus. Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple bids under tight deadlines are essential.

  • Working knowledge of mechanical drawings, schedules, details, and specifications.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Review and evaluate requests for estimates and project quotations, as needed.
  • Prepare the weekly bid calendar and ensure estimates are completed on time.
  • Prepare and review estimates and revisions for completeness and accuracy.
  • Create job folders.
  • Perform takeoffs from construction documents.
  • Review construction documents to understand the scope of work for bidding.
  • Obtain material pricing and subcontractor bids.
  • Develop estimates when predetermined standards are not available.
  • Notify the immediate supervisor of any inaccuracies or omissions in quoted items or the estimating database.
  • Develop and maintain cost data.
  • Maintain estimating procedures and guidelines.
  • Develop and maintain resource information for products, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Attend branch meetings.
