Job summary

EXCEL Group in Baton Rouge, LA seeks a detail-oriented Mechanical Estimator to prepare Lump Sum, T&M, and unit price estimates for bidding on industrial projects. The role requires reading specifications and drawings to develop accurate cost projections and to manage multiple coinciding projects.

The candidate will analyze plans, consult with clients and vendors, prepare equipment and labor estimates, and collaborate with project teams to keep bids competitive and on schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Experience in mechanical estimation within an industrial setting.
• Strong understanding of industrial construction methods.
• Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
• Consult with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
• Prepare estimates including equipment needs, labor costs, and materials.
• Conduct regular project reviews and prepare reports to ensure projects remain within budget and on schedule.
• Cost estimating with MEP.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other team members to ensure accurate and comprehensive estimates.
• Stay updated with industry trends and changes to ensure accurate cost predictions.

Excel is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Mechanical Estimator to join our team at the corporate office in Baton Rouge, LA. The successful candidate will be responsible for incorporating knowledge of client specifications, and other documentation to prepare Lump sum, T&M, and unit price cost estimates for bidding projects. Candidate must be able to develop accurate estimates for multiple, coinciding projects. This position also requires strong persuasive and organizational skills to assist in client presentations.
